I love the old portraits they used to paint of people, and in particular looking at all the ones of captains, admirals, and lieutenants on the National Maritime Museum's website (this does relate to the drawing, I swear!), so I have this long term project/goal to be able to do a digital painting of Norrington in that style.

I've done the sketch for the pose, and the following Norrington drawing is the pose he will be in (though, not however the background, I've decided that I'm not too keen on it).

On it's own it a sort of cartoonish version of him.

James Norrington (goes off site to dA, click on it for full view).

Well, I'm a fan. I like that you're doing it in the style of old portraits. And I can see your point about the background. I'm sure you'll come up with a spectacular replacement, though. Good luck on your project!

Thank you!

I recently got a tablet for my computer, so that should aid me quite a bit in doing some of these projects. The mouse isn't the easiest to use for making art. ;)
