Look who turns up in the new Star Trek film but our old friend, Zoe Saldana (a.k.a. Ana Maria). What a great rolw to land. It's a shame she didn't reappear in any of the POT sequels, but I'm glad she's made this leap in her career. What say ye?

I was expecting to hear the line "You stole my spaceship..."

From one fandom, straight into another... ;)

I thought she was good in the Star Trek movie, and if they go ahead with a second one, I hope they give her even more to do in it. Linguistics/Xenolinguistics isn't the most exciting job, and maybe an action scene or too, would be great.

That's one of the things it would have been cool to see her do in Pirates of the Caribbean, since she was the first female pirate in there, and she didn't get much in the way of fighting to do.

But I'm glad she certainly seems to be doing well in her career. :)

Yes, like you said, it's more of a "static" role, but she looks great and doesn't have that annoying voice from POTC. :P

As you may know, she also plays Neytiri in James Cameron's Avatar. She's the female Na'vi with whom the protagonist, Jake Sully, falls in love. Frankly, she's the most engaging, wholly realized and photo-realistic CG character ever, in my opinion, thanks in no small part to the energy and emotion of Zöe Saldana. For that, I salute her. And desperately desire a statue of her on-screen, blue alien counterpart.
