Having seen AWE again last night after quite some time, I did notice a few things I missed after countless other viewings. Perhaps it's the length of time between that causes one to be more open-minded to details. Anyway, one that comes to mind is in the scene is Sao Feng's holdout, when Jack Sparrow's name is first mentioned, two of the girls giggle, which of course ties back to Jack's remark in CotBP, "Apparently you've never been to Singapore." Also, for some bizarre reason, I didn't make a connection ebtween the crabs in DAvey Jone's locker and the transformation of Calypso into myriad crabs. There were a couple more, but I'm afraid I'm a bit tired now... I'm sure others have had similar experiences, with various details suddenly being connected. |

Here's one I picked up on when I was scrutinizing the movie to finish up our script: When Norrington shoots the lines connecting the Empress to the Dutchman, I knew he was doing it to save Elizabeth. But what I never noticed before was that she had actually started crawling back toward the Dutchman to try to help him when she saw that Bootstrap had shown up and was causing problems. So Norrington was left with no choice but to shoot down the lines in order to protect her (from herself, really). Although I still can't help wishing that he hitched himself a ride on those lines as they fell into the sea. He deserved better, even if he did end up dying later in the film. I think it was fairly inevitable that he would die, but it could have been much less pointless. |

I can't say that I rewatched the film, but I was creating a Norrington mood theme for my LJ a couple nights back, using all three films, and there were certainly tiny little details that you catch in the stills that you don't necessarily catch otherwise. For instance--when Norrington embraces Elizabeth on the Dutchman, the way the camera faces them, she's the one you see more of--she's the one "in front" of the camera. And the same went for their kiss. Possibly done because of height (since Jack does have a good amount of that on Keira), or possibly done because she's a main character, and he is not. But that was something that leapt out at me, reviewing the caps. |

Something that made me cringe when doing screencaps on AWE was the crow eating that guy's eye in the Turkish prison. It's a really quick shot of him in the cage and the bird attacking him, so you miss a lot of the detail about what's going on. But when you're looking at it a few frames at a time, it's pretty morbid. |

Just a thought...is the "Good Business" line a reference to the Godfather? I wasn't completely sure. |
