Well, I for one am thrilled that there's going to be another pirates movie we can all go to!
 And, I'm glad some of the same characters aren't going to be in it, frankly. New faces! That's what we need!

Well, not all of them--I'm sure that some of them will be fine because sometimes people end up thinking along the same lines of the writers. And the worse case scenario is that the fanfics just become AU. There are still loads of fics written that are AU, that are still very popular. Now...if they grabbed one or two of those "origin" fics to use as material to write the script...that would be wicked awesome. |

I agree. I'd kind of like to see a movie about Jack and Beckett's history, and /or Jack's days as Captain of the Pearl. |

AU=Alternate Universe In other words, something that didn't, couldn't or wouldn't happen in the movies. |

I'm going to guess AU means Alternate Universe, I may be wrong, but I think I'm right this time.
 Not really sure about the film still, since there's how many main characters left? there's Jack and Barbossa and... um... Pintel and Ragetti, possibly, it's kind of weird to have so few characters who can come back, I know most sequels have the problem of being a bit tedious when bringing back old characters, I'm trying not to mention DMC but I may fail with that, I guess it's just hard to imagine a Pirates film which relies completely on Jack, I know he's indestructable, that fall in the second film proved that, but he's still always had some kind of back-up or moral support, or is that immoral support? either way, it seems a bit dull to me without the other characters for some reason, if I make any sense with that.

I'm thinking that if they are trying to more or less separate this sequel from the others, which I've heard they are, they could probably introduce new supporting characters. That would be a good thing, really. With totally new characters come totally new storylines. I like it. |

Wow a fourth movie? really? this is my first time hearing this. I am torn maybe like most of you. A part of me says wonderful i can''t wait to see it, what the storyline will be and the new generation of characters they will bring. But then a part of me says i don't think it will be that successful as the first move. |

oi. the 2nd and 3rd movie were enough....what'll happen to will? Goodness, he was written out, and they literally showed the "10 years later" clip. will they hire someone to play swann's kid? oi....swann-turner jr. is gonna be a pirate next. if you're not a pirate already, you might as well just become one dang it! I'm excited for the soundtrack? I did a ballroom dance showcase to "Davy Jones" from the 2nd soundtrack. I appreciate the movie for that song. Basically. |

Thanks, Monkey....that really hurts I have mixed feelings about it. I'm excited because its a new plot line and all, but I'm worried it going to go TOO far...if you know what I mean. But I kinda have to trust Depp. If he is willing to jump back in, then I'm not so worried. But I wonder whats keeping Keira back, honestly. I'm a little worried about that. Do any of you guys know is they asked her to be a part of it? If they didn't even asked, then I'm not worred. But if they did ask and she refused....EKK! But I really am excited for new music. I think it would be a great idea to do Jack's past...not the future.... If we do the past, we can learn more about Becket and Will wont get in the way (sorry, he bugs me sometimes). This could be fun, it all depends on how realistic it is. |

Prequels? oh noes, the thing about prequels is you know exactly who will live and who will die, put a new character into a prequel and you know they'll end up as worm food before the film is over, since there's no way they can survive into the continuity we know, not without making alterations to the already existing films anyway, I'd rather have unneeded sequels than prequels, at least there's a slight chance of surprise with continuing on from things, maybe Jack can go through the Bermuda Triangle and end up twenty years in the future so he can team up with Will Turner Jr? sure it's ridiculous, but no more than the last two films were.

She has said in interviews that while filming the Pirates movies was a great experience and she had a lot of fun doing it, she is done with that part of her life. So I don't think they'd ask her because she's made it pretty clear that she doesn't want to be involved in another one. And really, who can blame her? I mean, being a huge Elizabeth/Keira fan, I thought she did a great job in all three movies, but I know to most people she became less and less likeable in each movie. Her part seemed really small in DMC, and she killed Jack, so most women hated her. And in AWE, she got a (slightly) bigger role, but I think the way her storyline went irritated a lot of people. Top it off with the fact that she's moving on to bigger and better things, and honestly, why would she come back? She's made several movies in the last year or so that at least got a lot of Oscar/Golden Globe buzz if not nominations, which is not something I would see coming to her from PotC 4. Not that she's one of those people that chooses roles for the Oscar possibility, but I think she's moving away from these kinds of movies. She's got several movies planned/in talks for the next few years anyway, so she might not even have the time. And finally, I think they pretty well wrapped up the Elizabeth/Will storyline (perhaps for this exact reason). While there is some debate as to whether they live happily ever after forever, we at least know they got married and have a son and get to see each other at the very least occasionally. What else do we need? |

Hi, everybody -- null here, back after a long absence. Lots going on in life, but always nice to be back for a visit... Frankly, POTC3 was already stretching things a bit, but they had to bring some closure to the story, so it was a necessity and 'happened' to earn the Disney people some tify profits. POTC4, if it happens, may just be another attempt to milk this for all it's worth. It's sad to see so few original films these days -- so many are either remakes or based on old stories. Is Hollywood that desperate? Indiana Jones 4 was only 'saved' (barely) bythe technical gimmicks. But you can't just sell movies based on that -- though it ultimately worked for the final couple of Star Wars flicks. In any case, we'll see what really happens. Not going to hold my breath, though. |
