Entertainment Weekly Article!!!!

:yay::yay::yay::yay::yay:

Despite the fact that I don't even know if I really want another film (I did love the first three, and think it could easily be ended on a high note there), I can't quell my excitement at the prospect!

HUZZAH! HUZZAH! HUZZAH!

EDIT: I fixed the link, sorry!

 Yeah, HP6 and PotC4 now both are on the horizon.

So.... we figure it'll be the Fountain of Youth? For some reason unbeknownst to me, I hope not. Just doesn't seem to fit for some reason to me.

Well Wolf, from what I have read in previous interviews, the Fountain of Youth is just going to be more of a small part of the story, it may have something more to do with Atlantis. Also I have heard that Beckett may not really be gone... hmmm lots to think about though!

A fourth film? really? do we really need another film? wasn't the last two films enough? I thought they did a pretty good job of making sure there isn't another one, since most of the characters were written out, and they took the level of ridiculousness so high that it can't really be topped, since it was already unrealistic enough, whatever will happen next? Jack Sparrow goes to the moon and fights space werewolves, who never turn back to humans since they're always in moonlight? I think that's what to expect.

Nice. You should definitely pitch that idea to the studio executives.

I agree with Steven here, a fourth film is not necessary, think Indiana Jones, the only thing working in PotC favor is that the characters are still basically the same age.

Until I see trailers, posters, etc. that present a coherent and moderately believable story-line, I'm not really looking forward to this movie.

I've realised that I couldn't give a toss about POTC anymore which is a real shame. Disney seem prepared to run it into the ground. If they are going to do another one why couldn't it just be about pirates rather than all this hokey legend gubbins?

I loved the first one because of the pirates, not the skeletal pirates, not the curse, real blood-and-guts-and-thievery pirates, it was brilliant because no one made films like that anymore when everyone knows that pirates were cool. I know it's Disney but for once couldn't they forgo the ridiculous and convoluted plot and just make a good pirate movie?

I'm against a fourth movie, as well...because I think the last two tarnished my love of the first one to some degree (even though I loved some of the characters they introduced), but it will be interesting to see what sorts of new people it might bring into the fandom. What new generation of kids it could bring in. You know...not just people who weren't old enough to see the first movie when it came out...but perhaps now people who weren't old enough to see the first three when they came out.

Dang. It's making me feel old.

I'm torn. Much as I love these movies, I don't know that I really want another one. For one thing, Keira Knightley and most likely Orlando Bloom wouldn't be back, and although I'm in the minority here, Elizabeth is one of my favorite characters, so it wouldn't be the same without her (okay, and Will too, I guess :P).

I guess my main thing is I don't want it to turn into a joke. Kind of like the Rocky movies. "Oh man, they're making another one?!" I think it'd be better if they did some sort of TV show or miniseries that could go on and on. But I guess that wouldn't make as much money. :D Silly me.

I at least hope they bring back more of the feel of the first one and that they don't have a ridiculously convoluted and/or bizarre script. Like werewolves from space. :D (Steven, where do you come up with this stuff?)

Hehe, Hi!

Pirates of the Caribbean is fun, and it should stay that way. People who worry about it becoming a joke are taking the whole thing too seriously. CotBP is my favorite by far. The other two have their problems and merits, but nothing beats the original, and I doubt it ever will. Everything that came and will come later is chiefly for people like most of us who are die-hard fans and have practically made it our identity.

Let people laugh. We laugh at Trekkies. We laugh at Star Wars fans (Do they have a name?) We laugh at LotR fans, etc. Why not PotC fans? I can live with that. And even if this fourth one is BAD, I will still be happy to have another movie to add to my DVD collection.

I admit that what I've heard here and there about the Atlantis plot and "flying machines" doesn't sound all that great. I kind of hope they don't go with that. (But I'll still watch it if they do. :P ) It doesn't really bother me that Will and Elizabeth won't be there (Sorry PG), but I would really like to see Anamaria return. Yeah, okay. It's not happening, but I can dream.

No worries. ;) Like I said, I know I'm in the minority and most people could care less about Elizabeth and Will. But I still do! Much like you're holding out for Anamaria who, cool as she was, is just as likely not to come back. But who knows? You may get lucky! :)

I guess I'll think of it as something like Indiana Jones 4. The first trilogy came along, although none of the others beats the original, and the 4th one is just... the 4th one. Maybe good, maybe bad, depending on your point of view (you may discuss the merits or lack thereof of IJ4 in its thread in Movies, not here ;)), but there's not much we can do to change the fact they're making one. I shall try not to take it so seriously. :P

I will definitely go see the next Pirates movie (as well as any others when/if they are made) but I have some reservations. I'm very concerned that it will be just a vehicle for Johnny Depp due to the overwhelming popularity of Jack Sparrow. Yes, he has always been the main character but if he is the only one returning (or just about the only original returning) the movie will probably end up being only a shadow of what we all fell in love with.

If Verbinski, Elliott, Rossio and Bruckheimer are all on board I'll rest a bit easier.

*remembers the silly parts of DMC*

I've heard a few rumours about this.

Including:

-It's a prequel about Jack. (which would be hard considering Depp's age)
-Zac Efron is in it, they're training him up to continue if JD drops the franchise.

Both these rumours scare the living daylights out of me.

I'm not looking forward to a fourth, but if they made one, I'd have to see it. =/

Edit: I don't know if it's on AWE's special features, but I'd also like the question of what mark Jack left on Beckett answered.

How hard that would be would depend on how far back they're going. If it has more to do with the mutiny period or something around that time, it wouldn't be too bad. If it was something earlier, it might be more difficult, but not impossible. Make-up, special effects and good lighting can do a lot. Fortunately, JD has aged well so far.
