Baltar may not have died like I would have preferred, but Tori did...and poor Lee with the loss of his father, and Kara...but I think I'm okay with the ending. Give me a week and I'm sure I'll change my mind...but...Scifi is classically that genre which is a way to reflect who we are, and look at our decisions, and challenging us to question whether or not what we do is right...and I think with the ending BSG had...it is that. For now, I like the ending, but just like shows like BSG, I'm sure I'll change my mind. And because of that reason...I think it's definitely a very good show.

I'm really glad that Tory got hers; as much as I hated Cally, Tory deserved to die. The character I wish had died but didn't (and I know I'm not going to make any friends with this one) was Lee Adama. I hate him, dear God, I hate him good. I think that ever since his Commander Chunk phase during the New Caprica occupation he's been growing increasingly whiny and irritating. He has no charisma at all and I wouldn't follow him into a lunch queue, let alone a combat situation but at least he ended up on his own in a field.

I know what you mean about the ending but I honestly don't think it could have been better. It wasn't necessarily the happiest end but it was a pretty peaceful one which is what the characters deserved.

On reflection, the only thing that really bothers me is that it was never explained what Starbuck was. I've come to my own conclusions but with the very definite answers given to almost every other aspect, it would be nice to know once and for all.

So many people hated Cally, but I never did, I thought she was a cute character...more initially than later. But I couldn't really fault her for being pissy with Tyrol sometimes. Although...the later revelation about her lying (perhaps by omission to him) about him being the father of the child was unforgivable. Although...of all the people to hook up with, and to be the father of your child...Hot Dog? I guess he was a decent enough guy.

But there was that wonderful, "oh crap!" moment for Tory before the five did the sharing, that I loved, because she was trying so hard to make sure she got out of it alive and unpunished. Her death was made even better by the fact she knew she had it coming. I sound like an absolutely horrible person saying that, but I never like who she became after she found out she was a Cylon. Not that that's truly an excuse, but, it's why I felt that way.

I sorta wished that Lee might've died as well. Just because I personally felt they should have killed off more of the main characters, and they should have killed an Adama. Prior to the last two episodes my prediction had been that they were going to destroy the Galactica in a battle to give her that fitting and honorable send off while trying to save Hera, and that Bill would go down with the ship and Roslin would die in that, too.

Clearly...they couldn't kill them that way since they sent all the ships into the sun, but I still think perhaps they should have killed one of the Adamas. Neither one of them are going to be very happy campers at all, now they've achieved their "resolutions".

-I assumed we were supposed to buy into what Baltar said about her being an angel and all. But by not explaining it too much they have left it open for you to interpret it different ways, which I prefer, if only because I don't like the whole "angel" explanation.

Going back now with more time to think over it, one of the things that seemed...a bit unrealistic to me was that everyone was so willing to give up their lives on the ships, and the comforts of flushing toilets, toilet paper, showers (perhaps even some hot ones), stoves, refrigeration (well...given that all they were eating was algae, maybe I can see that one), the medical equipment, electricity...a lot of their goods like books and stuff...to go on a camping trip for the rest of your lives?

I have no problem believing that some would be fine with that. Or that even most would be--given that they haven't lived on a planet in a long time...but I just can't believe that everyone is that willing to give it up. I'm sure after a couple of months some people will change their minds, and the next major virus that goes through, or someone gets cancer, they are going to have some major regrets. I know...I think it was Lee? Who said something about everyone willing to go, or some sort of thing to try and cover that...but...I still can't buy it.

One other thing that bothered me, that's going to be really anal is about who wears the uniforms when. So, aside from the beginning of season 4, and the end now, Lee's pretty much been a civilian in civilian dress, which is cool. And he had to switch back to his flight suit to take part in the final attack--regardless of whether or not he resigned from the fleet. What did bother me was the one in between scene where they are discussing the plan and he's back into his officer's uniform, prior to actually switching to the flight suit. He resigned. He left. There was no point in wearing that uniform except for it to get one more use before the show was over. It wouldn't have killed him to attend that meeting in his civilian suit. They don't wear the uniforms under the flight suit anyway. It's anal, yes. But it did bother me.

As an amusement factor related to my job, it's funny to see that BSG has established that there is a proto-world language. I was never a huge fan of that as a theory, but it is amusing. Especially since two people I've spoken to went, "hey--look! Language here began out there!"

But I loved Ron Moore's cameo. That was awesome. And I really loved the stuff set in the present day. If that wasn't there...I'm not sure if I would have been as happy with the ending.

Spoiler-tagging even though I'm sure you and I are the only people who watch..ed the show. I had read an interview with Ron Moore where he said the main theme was "all of this has happened before and all of it will happen again," and the inevitability of events, or can you stop a cycle like that...but it tied in so well, back with that original theme of taking responsibility for what you create, and that classic sci-fi warning or reminder that creating things like AI, or machines that can think does raise ethical issues of all sorts. Especially with the final montage. Which...I loved.
