According to CNN, Heath was found dead in his apartment today. Don't know how he died... Wow. Umm... I have nothing to say, really. Wikipedia says there were drugs found near the body, so a drug overdose is possible... But, if he did die of a drug overdose, I can't give him any sympathy, but... I remember reading he was having some problems with playing the Joker, but I can't see that having anythign to do with it... Still, could be... |

There are new reports coming out every moment - this is literally breaking news. He was pronounced dead at about 3:30 PM EST today. Apparetly, yes, there were bottles of sleeping pills found "near the vicinity of the bed." Also, according to a celebrity interviewer (I think his name is Tom Neilly) they're talking to on Prime News, he had interviewed Heath just a few weeks ago, and Heath had admitted that he was having a lot of trouble sleeping ever since playing the Joker. Apparently this version of the character is much darker than we've ever seen before, and it troubled him. Heath was a method actor who always delved deeply into his roles. He was taking Ambien to try to help him sleep, and apparently even that wasn't helping him sleep more than two or three hours a night. Nothing is confirmed, though. This is just coming from speculation of people on the news. All that is confirmed is that he is dead. I think blaming it on the role is probably an exaggeration, and definitely taking it a bit far - I don't believe anyone goes so deeply into it that it affects them to that degree unlss they have serious psychological problems already. But the fact that he was on Ambien and still having trouble sleeping - regardless of the reason - suggests severe depression. I'm just in shock. Wow. This is so terrible. |

My sister and I didn't believe it when her friend told her because I had just been on Yahoo News and there wasn't anything. Then I told her to check IMDb, and there wasn't a little box on the main page saying he was dead like they always do. Literally 5 minutes later it was there. It was really weird. I haven't seen much with Heath Ledger, and I was never a huge fan, but it's always really sad to hear someone died so young from something that was unnecessary. I agree that we probably won't know the real reason behind his death just yet, nor may we ever. It's just a strange feeling to think about. By the way, the IMDb message boards are down, I'm pretty sure because of this since the Heath Ledger board was the first one to freeze up. Just FYI. My thoughts are with his family and loved ones. EDIT: Apparently he was found in Mary-Kate Olsen's apartment in NYC. I guess there were rumors of them dating (?), but that's a little weird, too. That will probably make the rest of the Sundance Film Festival really awkward for her. As if the celebs don't get enough awkward questions from the press there as it is. |

If he overdoes on sleeping pills, then it makes sense that the death had something to do with his part in the Dark Knight; he jsut wanted to get some sleep. Hopefully it'll be something like that and not a bonafide suicide. |

PG, apparenlty that isn't Olsen's apartment. They came out with a statement saying it wasn't. |

Yeah, there's been speculation as to whose it was. I think the tabloids were just trying to jump in and add more fuel to the fire by spreading that it was Olsen's. I'm pretty sure it was his apartment, because he had just recently moved into that area of SoHo after breaking up with Michelle Wiliams - she kept the couple's Brooklyn apartment. The ironic thing is that just last night I watched most of Batman Begins, as it came on TV, and I was thinking about how excited I was about The Dark Knight this summer, and how I was especially excited about Heath playing the Joker. Now it's going to be really hard to watch, knowing it was his last film. Poor guy. Godspeed, Heath. Rest in peace. |

Yep, I came back to correct that statement. It was so random that I wondered if it was true or not. I was going to blame IMDb's lack of research, but lots of places were reporting that at first. Yeah, this will definitely put a damper on The Dark Knight's release. Apparently he was in the middle of filming something else, too. Sad. This is just... surreal. And I didn't even know the guy! Death is hard for anyone to handle. Again, my heart goes out to all those close to him. EDIT: The IMDb boards are up again, so if you want really, really up-to-date info about everything you did and didn't want to know, you can wade through the mess over there. |

I don't really have too much to add. It is of course always a tragedy when somebody dies in this way. And he was only 28 years old. About all I can say is that I hope he's at peace now. |

Heath is 2nd Dark Knight cast/crew to die I just remembered this, and its a bit eerie. Bad press for the film, a crew member and one of the leads are killed. Not to make light of these events, but we may be looking at the Superman Curse transferring to Batman, if you believe in such things. I was also just thinking, purely in the interest of the film, how the hell are they going to promote it now? The Joker was their big gun, so to speak, and just how can they use that now? Personally, I think its more of an honor to his final work, but I seriously doubt the studio will agree. His death is tragic, but I didn't know the man, and I'm really anxious right now about The Dark Knight as much as I am sad about his departure. I just hope they figure out a way to proceed smoothly and be respectful to him without delaying the movie. |

I tried to watch 10 Things I Hate About You (my favorite of his films) and A Knight's Tale last night, do my own little tribute to him, but I couldn't do it. I actually started crying as soon as the opening credits started and his name came up.

I just hope his family will get through this tragic time. I've only seen him in 2(10 Things I Hate About You and The Brothers Grimm )movies, so I don't know that much about him. |
