So we've had several storytellers during PotC so far... who do you like best, who do you think is best at telling the stories? Gibbs - is of course the major one. He has told us many stories, and is very good at keeping the audience (us) up to date with what happens. And he knows many stories, and knows who knows what... Gibbs knows a lot, really, doesn't he? Or claims he does... then there's Pintel - who among other things, told the story about Bootstraps Bootstraps to Will in CotBP... and then he interrupted Gibbs story about the green flashes in AWE... Tia Dalma - could tell the tale of Davy Jones (I wonder why...) but she nearly did it together with Gibbs which I thought was good. And then she's told other little bits and pieces... Barbossa - is also something of a storyteller. In CotBP he told Liz the story about Cortez and the aztec gold, and in AWE he tells us things about the pirate lords and he's very good at holding ceremonies too (like the one for the aztec gold, and he knows how to lift Calypso's curse too) so what do you think? If you were to be told a story of the Caribbean and pirates, who would you like to tell it to you of the major Storytellers? |

That's a hard question for me. I love the stories Gibbs tells, because they are usually exaggerated, which makes it fun, and it's almost like listening to a story from your grandfather. But I think Barbossa has more passion in his stories. So that even if the story itself isn't that interesting, you still get pulled in by the way he tells it. Sorry, can't decide between the two. |

Ooh, good question!!! Throughout COTBP and DMC, and a little in AWE, Gibbs is our main storyteller, in terms of explaining concepts of the movie to the audience. I love how Gibbs does it because Kevin McNally just does such a great job - Gibb's expressions and exaggeration make it fun and also a running joke. In AWE I liked how they would cut him off in the middle of his big speeches.. that was a good tie in to the joke. But overall, Barbossa is my hands down favorite storyteller. He's one of my favorite characters after Jack and he's just fabulous - Geoffery Rush is fantastic. Barbs' facial expressions - the way he rolls his eyes - and also the way his voice inflection becomes dramatic when he's telling a story - its perfect. And Barbossa's stories are always the most interesting, and they always make you wonder how he knows so much and why he knows it. |

I agree with Monkey, Gibbs tells amazing stories that are extremely exaggerated and I think that makes it more fun. Barbossa does tell his stories with more passion, it's all in his eyes when he talks, I really love his eyes. He uses them to make his words mean more. I don't know Tia Dalma told the story of Davy Jones in DMC very well, but I thought she was too sad in the third movie. For me it is between Gibbs and Barbossa, and even though I can't believe I am saying this I think I tend to lean towards Gibbs cuz I just think his stories are so funny! |

I think I'd want Barbossa to tell me the story. He really pulls you into it. Though his stories are pure exposition, and could have been really boring, he pulls it off and makes you interested. Go Barbossa!!! |

I like Gibbs best as storyteller; he adds that nice flair to it. They're all great, but it seems like Gibbs' only purpose in all of this is to tell everyone the background of what's going on. He's that character you have to have when you want to explain something; like Hermione in Harry Potter, if you have something that needs to be explained, you have a character that people expect to know the information. In Pirates, that character is Gibbs. |

Alright, so I'll answer the question I asked too... if I were to be told some story, I'd pick Gibbs. Who else but Gibbs could convince anyone, that Jack did indeed escape his little island by the help of seaturtles? Or the way he tells the story about the Kraken, he's really good at it. Especially the way he ends it "... if you believe such things..."
