Ha? Three hundred american? Good luck. Even if I was a nerd I wouldn't pay that much!

I don't understand why they make these replicas. They're just forgotten as soon as the movie is over, plus nothing says "I am a nerd" more than a lifesize replica of a treasure chest that opens with a key you have to by seperately. :P

As I have stated probably 50+ times, I am a nerd, and plan on buying this. Normal people be damned!!!! Plus, I have the key anyway, and think that the chest is just badass as all hell, so count on me buying it within the next 3-5 months.

Nice.

Being a nerd is well and good. I'd classify myself as a nerd as well, though for very different reasons. There's a point, however, when the line between nerdy and ridiculous gets crossed. I'm beginning to wonder if this PotC merchandise craze is close to - if not over - that line.

Of course, at risk of being the instigator of a thread derailment, I won't say anything more on the topic. Some prefer the toys and trinkets, others less tangible things. To each their own, after all.

Hey, all I got for PotC is the Dead Man's Chest poster, the DVDs, the Key and a bunch of free crap. I'd like to have the chest because I love how it looks, I have since I saw the movie. In fact, I've wanted a model of it since I saw it in the trailer. I know I'm a bit over-obsessive, but I don't spend too much money on movies and things because A. I don't have much money and B. What I get I save. So, I think I can afford $300 for a nice collectible that I've been waiting a year for. I'm not offended or trying to start a fight, I'm just stating my opinion in the matter. To each his own.

That does look cool. It'd be neat to have, though I'm not paying $300 for it, lol. They do have a cute tiny little replica at the Animal Kingdom I'm considering buying. I have to check how much it costs, though. I'm pretty cheap, even with my cast discount.

Some like both.

I wish I were rich, just so I could buy stuff like this. It's pretty.

I'm not rich, I'm just going to save cash away a little bit at a time and eventually buy it. Hopefully it won't take too long, becuase however unlikely it may be, I don't want them to sell out.

:) Thats really cool, and I totally am a Pirates nerd, but I don't think I'd buy it. I busy myself with buying the Megablocks sets and the Jack action figures and the posters and the t-shirts and the other random merchandise, only drawing the line at things that are absurdly childish, such as halloween costumes (). Thats really neat but I don't think I've got money or a want to have it... I love Jack best, and Jack is, last time I checked, not a chest  But very nice.

I do like some of the higher end merchandise that they offer with these films--namely swords and weapons since that's the type of stuff I am into (academically, believe it or not), and while I can occasionally justify costs of those types of things, a chest for a movie I didn't like would be a bit more difficult. Maybe if it was the Aztec Gold chest, but...to each their own.
