Erm... is it just me or is it strange that they have a movie from July of last year (Pirates) and April of this year (Blades of Glory) competing against each other? Weird. Hold the phone! Why isn't the wheel of fortune 3-way fight or anything from DMC in best fight?!?!?! And why isn't AWE on the top summer movies thing!?!?! What is this world coming to!?!??!?!?!?!?! Wait, its MTV, it doesn't matter. Still, those should be on there though. DMC should win best movie, and Johnny should win best acting, but I don't think either are going to win because its MTV and they never work right. At least its nominated, though, right? Plus, its no shame to lose to 300. |

Since DMC made more cash and MTV is mostly watched by younger people I guess it'll safely pwn 300, most of the people watching couldn't see it, as for the coming films, Transformers should win it, although why Hairspray and Rush Hour 3 and no love for Die Hard 4? but... I think the awards will be happening after AWE's release, which is probably why it's not on there, there's no excuse for leaving out John McClane though. <_< |

John McClane pwns all! How the hell is Blades of freaking Glory in the best movie catagory? That movie wasn't all that great. This just goes and proves that MTV is a joke. It's all about the 14-year old girl who could either watch the awards or go out and do something with her time that actually might benefit society in some way and not make her life a waste. We all know MTV doesn't want that. Bastards. |

Yeah, I agree that some of the nominations are messed up... Blades of Glory for best fight? Will Ferrel and Sasha Cohen for best kiss?
 Those were comical things, not serious. Anyway... I voted. Anything where DMC was a choice I voted for it. Twas fun.

I voted for all Pirates, 300 and Borat. Best 3 movies in there. Well, Departed is nominated for best villian (wtf?) but I voted for good ol' Davy Jones. Either way, things aren't looking good for anything Pirates right now. |

I voted for mostly pirates. On Best Performance I voted Keira, on the grounds that Johnny seemed out of it and Keira did good. In Best Villian I voted for Jack Nicholson, because... well... He's Jack Nicholson. He's the greatest actor of all time. Davy can't hold a candle to him. |

I'd have to disagree. While Nicholson's preformance in The Departed was amazing, it didn't really wow me as much as Nighy's as Davy Jones, and not only because of the special effects. Nicholson was just being Nicholson. Again. Which is always good, but can get tired when compared to other works, such as Jones. The emotional depth the character had was incredible for a villain, let alone a fully CGI villain. Add to that the fact that he was a ground-breaking CGI character built from a new and untried technology but retained all spontanaeity of a regular performance, and you have your year's best villain. |

Davy Jones was a CGI character. There's your first problem. All Nighy had to do was supply the voice, and the computers did the rest. I wouldn't even call it new, really. Lord of the Rings did it. Remember Gollum? First time is always the best. They had the person on set, too. The only difference was that they did the CGI for Gollum in the studio. It's hardly enough to call it new. Half the reason Nicholson was so good was because he was just being Nicholson. If it's not broke, don't fix it. He's won many an Oscar by being just "Nicholson". While it may not have been nowhere near as good as he was in The Shining, his performance in The Departed was easily the best of the year. It takes more to act evil than to speak and have the computer add the evil later. It was all the CGI. Nicholson did his performance in the flesh and blood. That makes the best villain. |

Bill Nighy acted on set as well, do you own DMC? Watch the Anatomy of a Legend featurette, then get back to me. The only big difference then is that they change his costume in the computer. Sure, his face is different, but they're his facial expressions and his acting. And it was an original performance, far more so than the Frank Costello character, despite the CGI. He was a great character. Costello was good, but far more easily forgettable. |

Gollum acted on set too. It's nothing new. Really, what's a more forgetable performance? the villian of the largest movie of 2006, or the villian of the best picture of 2006? The CGI of Davy Jones is impressive, but if your sitting here and telling me Bill Nighy outacted Jack Nicholson, your sadly mistaken. |
