I picked Tarantino hands down... I think his movies are very interesting, creative and usually have great soundtracks. I also think the actors that play in his movies are usually pretty on point with the characters. I dunno there is just something about his movies I generally like. |

Rodriguez all the way. Tarantino's movies may be intresting, but Rodriguez's are just non-stop action from beginning to end. Plus, he introduced Salma Hayek to us. Gotta love him for that. |

I voted Tarantino, I was going to vote both but then I remembered that the best part of dialogue in Desperado was by Quentin, which slid the vote, as I that guy's dialogue is always super cool, which is what makes the films so watchable, sure action is fun but the dialogue makes it.

I voted Tarantino. Pulp Fiction is a masterpiece, and he never did four lame kid's movies. |

Heck yeah. I loved the joke he told, I was in stitches.
*splutters imaginary drink all over computer* (Always wanted to do that ) Spy Kids was never meant to be nominated for Oscars or something. I saw it as the entertaining mind-numbing dribble that it is meant to be and enjoyed it for that. Anyway, I voted for both. They're both excellent movie-makers. |

I went with Tarantino, I like Rodriguez very much and kudos to him for making family films in addition to his action films but overall I prefer QT's work. Will |

I'm going to vote "undecided", knowing my opinion in this poll will make a difference <_< (especially in the grand scheme of things) Actualy, i just like the movies they both make ...can't pick a favorite. (seriously; love? is that the love for your parents or the love between a man and a woman?)... |

He wrote, directed and scored Once Upon a Time in Mexico. I just love that movie. If he had only done that one movie, I'd still like him better than Tarantino. |

He also edited it. As much as I enjoy Once Upon A Time In Mexico I don't think it's in the same league as Reservoir Dogs or Pulp Fiction. Having seen El Mariachi, Desperado, OUATIM, Spy Kids, Spy Kids 3D: Game Over, Sin City and Four Rooms I must say that Tarantino has more consistent brilliance. El Mariachi was an average film, Desperado was virtually the same with a larger budget and Salma Hayek, OUATIM is entertaining but the plot is rather contrived. The Spy Kids films that I saw were rather fun (a bit daft but then they are kids' films) and it's nice that he branched out and made something for younger people, Sin City was an amazingly stylish film but he was not the only director on it plus it was not his own style. Reservoir Dogs was a superb film, the dialogue was snappy and memorable, the characters were iconic, the music was perfect (I don't think anyone can listen to Stuck In The Middle With You in quite the same way again having seen this film). Referential but unique, a difficult union to achieve. Pulp Fiction again had wonderful dialogue, characters and music, the storytelling itself took what was started in Reservoir Dogs and ran with it. It makes quite a difference to the overall effect of the film when it's edited together in that order. Tarantino just has a knack for making great films. I haven't seen Grindhouse yet but even if QT's film is abysmal I will still think he's makes the better films of the two. Will |

Once Upon a Time in Mexico is fun, but I like Desperado better, and The Faculty, that was the first Rodriguez film I saw, on the big screen as well, yeeears ago now, but that was fun, El Mariachi is ok I guess, not one I'd watch again though, but I so agree with the Sin City thing, as much as I love that movie it was just a panel for panel reproduction of the comics, which does mean that a lot of the directing credit lays with the artist than the film maker, so it's hard to count that in the discussion. Anyway, it is story and dialogue which counts, just look at True Romance, it was only written by Tarantino and yet it pwns so much of Rodriguez's stuff, sure I like his films too, but Quentin's just the man. |

DVD Release Info for both Grindhouse movies They're releasing them seperately, and on different days. WTF? Other than that, I think both have pretty good art (grudgingly, though, I'll admit that Deathproof's is probably nicer). I still think that Deathproof was a big disappointment; just.. so much wasted time with the two sets of girls droning on about nothing in particular. Planet Terror was effing amazing though, I don't care what anyone says. I'm definately going to pick up the steel-book Best Buy exclusive of that the day it comes out. I'll get Deathproof too, but probably not the day it comes out, and probably not the steel-book, unless there ends up being a steel-book of that left when I go to get Planet Terror. Also, you have to wonder what the 'extended and unrated' did to the movies; what else could there be? Hopefully more action and death in Deathproof, and I really hope they restored that 'missing reel' in Planet Terror. And where are the trailers going to be? All of them on both DVDs, or... what? I don't know why they don't release the films together, aside from that they hope to make way more money on the DVD sales than they did with the film in theatres. |

Well, I just saw Pulp Fiction in theatres (lets hear it for Bow Tie Theatre's 'Insomnia Theatre' events), and I have to say, I don't even think I've ever watched that whole movie straight through before. Gorram, its amazing. I just have to say, just... wow. I still prefer Rodriguez, but Pulp Fiction rocks effing hard. |

That is a cool film, the only bad thing about is John Travolta doing drugs before rocking hard and winning a trophy and all, well... he stole it, but that's such a small almost missed detail, it just seems wrong, people who do drugs shouldn't succeed, they should fail, as they only hinder rather than enhance, that's all.
