I am deeply scandalized! Am I the only person in the forum who likes "Smallville"? How sad! I love my "Smallville."

Is there anyone else out there who is a fan?

I am now. I picked up Season One today at Best Buy ($20!!!! You CANNOT beat that!!) I've only watched the first 4 episodes (which I guess for normal people would be quite a lot of viewing for one day), but I'm deeply impressed so far. Its very cool how they've thrown all these characters together. I think that the acting is dead-on; I really enjoy Tom Welling as Clark, and that he's just Clark, not having to screw around being Clark, then Superman, then Kal-el, that can get annoying. I'm also not lamenting that he doesn't have glasses to hide that he's Superman. I also really like the guy playing Lex, he's very good.

Overall, I'd say this is my favorite incarnation of the Superman mythos. Kind of strange, since barely a year ago I hated Superman and everything about him; now I'm becoming a big fan, which we can firstly thank Bryan Singer for, and now all involved in Smallville.

Yay, another Smallville fan! Finally! it's a really awesome show, honestly. Admittedly, at times it gets a little wonky, especially in Season four, there's a really screwy plotline involving Lana and witches and Kryptonian artifacts and.... Ugh, I'm still not sure what all went on in the season. And the Clark/Lana angst gets a little old after a while (It's been six bloody years and he's still pining after her! Gah!), but otherwise, you'll love it.

In one of the later seasons they actually do make a reference to the glasses, which was fun. That's actually one of my favorite episodes.

Michael Rosenbaum is the guy who plays Lex, and he's awesome. I honestly think he's the best actor in the show. Period. Well, maybe John Glover comes first (he plays Lionel, Lex's father), but Rosie's a close second. :D

And, I don't know if you're familiar with the older Superman movies, but don't you just love how Annette O'Toole plays Martha? (If you're not a fan of the old movies, then you should know that A ) she's a huge Superman fan, and B ) she played Lana Lang in Superman 3.) She's awesome, I so want her for my mom! I've always loved the character of Martha Kent, from the old movies to "Lois & Clark" to Superman Returns, but Annette is by far my favorite.

So, how far have you gotten on Season One, now? Any favorite episodes yet?

I'm actually half-way through season 2 now; I don't screw around when I watch TV shows on DVD... what does 'savor' mean, anyway? Needless to say, I love the show. So far, my favorites have been "Obscura", which is where Lana has the visions of Chloe kidnapped (I really liked when Clark pulled Chloe out and she said something like "I knew it'd be you! Its always you, Clark!"). That was really good, and I love "Tempest" and "Vortex", which are the last episode of season one and the first of season 2. Those were both very, very good. I love all the foreshadowy but goofy comments, like the kind of on-going gag with Clark being afraid of flying. Oh, and loved "Truth, justice and... other... stuff." That was great! I also really enjoyed "Leech" in season one, because I like that actor who played Ian, who also plays Iceman in the X-Men movies. The last episode I watched, "Fever", was really great. Thats when Clark and Martha get sick from the meteor rock dust in the cellar. There haven't been any episodes that I haven't liked, and in fact all of them are really good, but those are my favorites so far, I guess.

I bought seasons 3 and 4 today, since they're still on sale and I'd really rather not wait and end up paying twice as much for them later. And as for the old Superman movies, I'm not too much of a fan. I don't remember anything in particular about the first movie, so it can't have made much of an impression. But Superman II I like well enough; I've watched that fairly recently. By far, my favorite is Superman Returns. Movie-wise anyway, Smallville beats all the other ones by a landslide. I'm actually about to go watch more right now!

OK, well... no one's posted again, so I'll just post more in this one. I started watching season 3 today; I just watched the first 2 episodes, and I just have to ask WHY THE :censored: DOESN'T CLARK JUST :censored: TELL LANA!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! WHAT THE :censored:!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Grr...argh...........

I'm really mad that he doesn't just tell her, it would be fine!!!! Pete knows, why can't Lana!!?!?!?!????!?!?!?! Man, I was just screaming at the screen at the end of that second episode when Clark tells her that it can never work. YES IT BLOODY WELL CAN, JUST FREAKIN TELL HER THE TRUTH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

GAH!

Other than that, well, even including that I guess, I still love the show. Very, very good. I'm just angry about that. I guess movies can have even the most unlikely romances pan out, whilst TV shows are duty-bound to see each and every one suffers.

I also really enjoyed "Leech" in season one, because I like that actor who played Ian, who also plays Iceman in the X-Men movies.

Actually, that's Aaron, his twin brother. ;) Shawn is the one who plays Iceman. Aaron will come back in Season 6 to play Jimmy Olsen! He's a pretty good Jimmy, too, in all honesty, even though I think he was brought onto the show way too early in Clark's life. (So was Lois, even though I like Erica Durance.)

Oh, honey... If you think you're frustrated now, wait until you get through Season 5, you'll want to shoot something. Season 5 was very good, though, but I have to tell you that my opinion of Lana changed drastically in S4, 5 & 6. I really don't like her anymore - you'll see why.

"Fever" is an awesome episode, as is "Memoria." And "Ryan" is fabulous, it's one of my favorites.

How far into S4 have you gotten? Is it weird or what?!

I'm not quite done with season 3 yet, actually, and I know that Lana ends up with Lex (as per the cover of season... 5? Or is it 6? Either way). Really sucks, but oh well. I didn't know that Shawn Ashmore had a twin brother though, thats strange, and exactly why does he come back as Jimmy Olsen? Same actor? That's stupid, unless he looks completely different somehow.

Anyway, I liked the episode 'Asylum', where we had a bunch of different enemies from prior episodes all in the same place. That one was cool, and I loved 'Delete', because it was just weird as hell. I also really like the one 'Hereafter'; I'm not sure why, I just like that kid who plays the premonition guy, he was cool. 'Crisis' was pretty cool, and I liked all the hearing stuff in 'Whisper'. Oh, and 'Slumber' was REALLY cool, with the weird Angel of Death thing, and I just like the whole nightmare plot. Also, the end was great:

"Oh, Lana, I don't think skinny dipping is such a good idea..."

"Clark, who said anything about skinny dipping? Maybe in your dreams."

I'm watching Disc 5 tonight, and Disc 6 tomorrow night, to finish off season 3 before school starts on Tuesday. I have season 4 already, and the price stayed down for season 5, so I'm probably going to pick that up when I finish season 4.

Oh, and this is a little random, but I LOVE the shot where Clark is in the phone booth and he tears off his shirt and the 'S' symbol is burning red. That was just freakin' awesome!!!!

Yup, the same guy that played a bad guy twice in earlier seasons came back as Jimmy. Apparently the producers think we're too stupid to remember that after four years. But in any case, he's here to stay. And it's not that he's a bad actor by any means, I like him very much. And he does a great job as Jimmy, the character is really likable, in a slightly annoying, geeky way. I just really, really feel that it's far too early in Clark's life to be meeting Jimmy Olsen.

"Crisis..." Is that the one where Clark gets the phone call from Lana "in the future" and hears her being attacked/killed? I don't think I ever watched that one.

Yeah, the House of El scar was pretty cool. Season 3 is, in my opinion, the best of all, really. I liked seeing him as Kal, and I liked how Rutger Hauer guested. (*squee*) I also loved the backstory on Lex and his family.

You gotta check out the next couple of seasons! They're awesome! And if you can find some way to catch yourself up on Season 6 (I'm not sure when that'll be released... Early September, most likely) before Season 7 starts, then w00t! I had to do that last year, I hadn't seen any of Season 5, so I was scrambling to watch the whole thing in a week before 6 started up.

The first episode of Season 4 is amazing. The rest of it is kind of... Eh... Wonky... But the season premiere was so cool. You'll enjoy it, it's the one and only time in the show that he flies.

Yeah, Crisis is the one with the phone call from the future. I just watched Memorium, that was insanely good. That was just effing awesome, all the twisted backhistory of the Luthors. This is so far the best season yet, especially because unlike the previous two, it really builds up to the end, instead of just one-shot stories then a two-part finale. Its more like Buffy, where we have the 'monster of the week' (or in this 'Kryptonite-infected person of the week') for most of the season, then the overall arc steals the show for the last half dozen or so episodes, which is a lot cooler. I didn't like Kal too much; its just not Superman. The rest of season 3 was really really good though, the best so far, like I said. I'm saving the last disc for tomorrow night; kind of a last huzzah before school, I guess.

As I've said, I have season 4, and I'm going to buy season 5 soon. Season 6 actually comes out the same day as Superman: Doomsday (which I'm definately picking up on the day), and thats September 18th. Depending on the price (online its about $20 cheaper than in the store) I might get it. If not, I'll just rent it. Season 7 starts on the 27th, so that'll give me plenty of time to get through seasons 4-6. You know, thats in about 30 days, and most people wouldn't even fathom watching 3 twenty-odd episodes long seasons of a show in that space of time. Oh well. Woot for being a huge nerd!

This'll be the first time I'll be watching a show weekly, first-run. I'm not counting Star Wars: Clone Wars, because they were 3 minutes long, then 12, and all were available online anyway. I'm also not counting Drive because I didn't watch the first episode, and there were only 4 aired episodes.

Oooh, and its on at 8, so even if my hours change and I do end up working on Thursdays, my shift ends at 6 anyway! :yay:

Haven't posted here in a while! I caught up with Season 6 (which was very good!) just before Season 7 started. I have to say, the first few episodes of 7 were good, but the last few have been pretty mediocre; comparable to some of the lackluster season 1 episodes in my opinion. Still good, just... not as epic or anything yet like I'd hoped it would be. The girl who plays Kara isn't exactly the best actress ever, and a lot of the Krypton stuff is just corny, like the beginning of yesterday's episode with her being told to escape by Zor-El. Just... not necessary.

Season 5 is my favorite so far by a lot; "Reckoning" alone puts it above all the other seasons, not to mention James Marsters as Braniac was just a genius piece of casting. Finale was pretty freakin' awesome too; that shot of Lex on top of the building with the trench coat was just :yay:!!

Hopefully season 7 will start picking up a bit soon, and get a bigger story arc going.

EDIT: I just watched 'Unsafe', 'Pariah' and 'Reckoning' over the past long weekend; those are 3 of my favorite episodes. The first two are the two episodes in season 4 with the return of Alicia Baker, the teleporting girl. I love those two. Its like one giant episode, so its great viewing them back-to-back. The girl who plays Alicia is really good; she's sooo gorgeous, and she's so sad; she's perfect for the role. I love the comedic parts in 'Unsafe' when Clark is on red K ("I'm a virgin." ".....thats GREAT! Me too!") Then 'Pariah' is just so sad. Those two together are extremely well done, in my opinion. And 'Reckoning', the 100th episode, where Clark tells Lana his secret and proposes to her, then she gets chased down by Lex and is killed in a car accident, so Clark goes back in time to save Lana, only to then lose his father forever. That was just... WOW. Amazing episode, exceptionally great acting, and probably the single best story they've had thus far for an episode. And for some reason, that is one of my favorite Lex episodes; Rosenbaum is an uber-perfect Lex in that one. I really love this show!!

Since its Christmas, I just watched "Lexmas". That is such a great episode! Its sooooo happy and silly in the beginning, then its all sick-and-twisted-Luthor in the end. Really good Lex episode (duh!).

Also, I'm very sad that the writer's strike has stopped the show. It hasn't had a new episode (other than one that they'd saved for a few weeks) in over a month. I want more Smallville! (And, I'm sad to say, I'd really like for it to pick up a bit... its been a bit blech lately.)

Actually, to my knowledge, it's not the writer's strike - they always have a winter hiatus. I mean, you've got to firgure, there are only 22 episodes in a season, and the season lasts from late September to late May. No way there will be a show every single week. Last year it went from Thanksgiving to mid-January with only one new episode.

"Lexmas" is a great ep, though. I haven't watched it in forever. I like the idea of a redeemed Lex. I just wish they'd played up more of the "Chlark" (Chloe/Clark) ship in that one. (Damn it, they keep hinting at it, but never commit!)

I'm thinking it'll be back next week, but I'm not certain. I'm visiting family out of state for Christmas, and my Internet and TV access has been limited.

EDIT: No new ep this week. There have been no dates announced for new episodes that I've seen other than "early 2008." It'll probably be the first or second week of January (so maybe next week).

Mini-Spoilers and/or Rumors! Should you choose to read them, highlight:

Pete will be back for one episode! OMGYAYZ! I'm excited about this one, I seriously miss Pete. Dude needs to move back to Smallville already.

Oliver Queen/Green Arrow will be back for one or possibly two episodes.

DC superhero Black Canary/Dinah Lance will guest in a Green Arrow episode. She'll start out working for Lex.

There will be another "Lexmas"-like ep, where Lex gets shot and we'll apparently see bits of his past. His mother, Lillian, will factor into the story.

Bizarro is still aound, as we saw in the last new episode.

Brainiac will be back again. Probably in cahoots with Bizarro.

Chloe will use her power again.

There will be a death, and the character will stay dead. No clue as to who, of course. (I hope not Chloe!)

Possibility of villain Genevieve Teague (Jane Seymour) returning for one or more eps.

Kara will come back, with amnesia, apparently. She'll be called "Linda."

Lana, Chloe and Kara will team up at some point, probably to rescue Clark in some way or another.

Marc McClure, who played Jimmy Olsen in the Chris Reeve movies, will guest in the next episode as another Earth-bound Kryptonian. He's apparently using another blue Kryptonite ring to assimilate and be a mere human.

Episode titles for Season 7 are as follows (I only know the first 15, though):
Bizzaro (aired)
Kara (aired)
Fierce (aired)
Cure (aired)
Action (aired)
Lara (aired)
Wrath (aired)
Blue (aired)
Gemini (aired)
Persona (next)
Siren
Fracture
Hero
Traveller
Veritas

Yeah, James Marsters is back in 2 weeks as Braniac! Hopefully this season will stop sucking now! Seriously, though, Kara was just... a bad idea. I was kinda hoping she'd just... you know... STAY in Detriot. Oh well.

New episode was great! SOOOO much better than anything else they've had this season. Mutliple great villains (Braniac and Bizarro), good story, better acting, NO KARA!!! Demented Luthor stuff. :yay:

I hope it stays this good!
