Depp in bedside vigil for sick young daughter

Hollywood film star Johnny Depp's young daughter is seriously ill in hospital, it was reported today.

The Mirror newspaper said Depp's seven-year-old daughter Lily-Rose was rushed to a British hospital nine days ago as Depp, 43, took part in filming in the UK.

It said the Pirates Of The Caribbean star, who has enthused about the joys of fatherhood, and his partner Vanessa Paradis are keeping a round-the-clock vigil on the youngster.

The Mirror said it knew what Lily-Rose's medical condition was and where she was being treated but was not revealing those details to protect the family's privacy.

The actor is shooting his new movie Sweeney Todd at Pinewood Studios. He plays Benjamin Barker, also known as the murderous barber Sweeney Todd. The film is being directed by Tim Burton and also stars Helena Bonham Carter and Alan Rickman.

Depp and 34-year-old French singer Paradis have been together for nine years.

Depp also has a four-year-old son, John Jack.

The PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN actor, 43, and his partner VANESSA PARADIS, 34, are holding a vigil at the child's bedside after she was struck down by the undisclosed illness nine days ago.

The Mirror claims it knows what medical condition Lily-Rose is suffering from, but have decided to withhold it from the press out of respect for the privacy of Depp's family.

Depp had been filming SWEENEY TODD in London and Buckinghamshire when his daughter was rushed to hospital last week.

A hospital source says, "He has not asked for any special favours but just wants the best for his child, like any parent.

"It is such a difficult time for him but he is hanging in there for the sake of his daughter and the whole family is just praying that she gets better. They are taking each day as it comes.

"It's been an emotional rollercoaster for all of them and he's been worrying himself silly. He's a devoted dad and is spending as much time as he can with Lily." Depp and French model/actress Paradis also have a four-year-old son JACK.

A distraught Johnny Depp is maintaining a bedside vigil as his beloved daughter Lily-Rose lies seriously ill in a UK hospital, according to reports.

Along with his partner Venessa Paradis, the Pirates of the Caribbean star has barely left the 7-year-old's bedside since she was rushed to hospital nine days ago, The Daily Mirror reports.

A source at the hospital told the magazine: "The staff immediately recognised him when he walked through the door. He has not asked for any special favours but just wants the best for his child, like any parent."

"It is such a difficult time for him but he is hanging in there for the sake of his daughter and the whole family is just praying that she gets better. They are taking each day as it comes."

Depp has been arriving at the hospital in secrecy and using a staff entrance to get in without attracting attention.

Specifics of the illness, as well as the name and location of the hospital have not been released.

"It's been an emotional rollercoaster for all of them and he's been worrying himself silly. He wouldn't wish this on anyone and has been finding it hard keeping it together. He's a devoted dad and is spending as much time as he can with Lily," the insider said.

The actor is in the UK for production of the movie Sweeney Todd.

Depp has two children, daughter Lily-Rose, and four-year-old son John Jack.

"Being a dad has given me great strength, great perspective, great calm. I'm a total homebody, just hanging out with my kids. More than anything, I love being with my family," he said earlier.

A spokeswoman for actor Johnny Depp and partner Vanessa Paradis reports their daughter, Lily-Rose, is "doing much better."  

Johnny Depp's daughter, Lily-Rose, 7, is "doing much better," according to the actor's spokeswoman Robin Baum. "The family greatly appreciates the continued support and respect of their privacy," she said in a statement.

Depp's camp is responding to reports in British newspapers Thursday that Lily-Rose is in serious condition at a London hospital. The reports did not elaborate on details of the girl's illness.

Depp, 43, and his partner, Vanessa Paradis, 34, live in France and also have a son Jack, 4. The family is in London for Depp's next film, Sweeney Todd. The Tim Burton-directed movie began filming Feb. 5 in London and Buckinghamshire, and production will go forward, says a production spokesman. "They have been accommodating the schedule to meet (Depp's) needs," says DreamWorks' Marvin Levy. The film is scheduled for release in December.

The third and final installment of Depp's blockbuster Pirates of the Caribbean films, At Worlds End, is due May 25.

A rusty tack is responsible for the serious illness that could be threatening the life of Johnny Depp's 7-year-old daughter, Lily-Rose, In Touch has learned exclusively.

Now one of Lily's kidneys is affected, and she is not responding to treatment in London's Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Trust.

Lily trod on the nail at the farmhouse in France where she lives with the Pirates of the Caribbean star weeks ago. "Blood poisoning developed. It has now spread through her body and has affected her vital organs," says one person with inside knowledge of the case.

After Johnny and the family moved to London last month, near where he is filming the big screen version of the musical Sweeney Todd, Lily's condition worsened. Johnny has halted filming so he can be at Lily's bedside. Today's London Daily Mirror broke the news that Lily was seriously ill, but did not reveal her condition.

Lily has now been in the hospital since February 27, In Touch has learned, and is not responding to treatment.

She is the older child of Johnny, 43, and singer Vanessa Paradis, 34. They also have a son, Jack, 4.

Johnny's rep tells In Touch, "We are happy to report that their daughter is doing much better. The family greatly appreciates the continued support and respect of their privacy."

Sources confirm to ET that an earlier report by In Touch magazine which stated that the illness was caused by the little girl stepping on a rusty tack is "absolutely untrue."

Good news came on Thursday, when a rep for Depp confirmed that little Lily-Rose is recovering nicely.
