I am a big comics fan, but I need to say one thing: I hate when they recycle characters just because they need new books. Spider-Woman, She-Hulk, She-Thing, even Carnage is just Venom but crazier and red. I can tolerate Batgirl for some reason; I guess its because since Batman already worked with Robin I wasn't as averse to more sidekicks. But even that is kind of pushing it. |

You have a point. But new characters that are spin offs are a long tradition in comics. You remember Bucky and Captain America? |

Are you kidding? they messed up everything which was great about the origin of the guy, sure the effects were ok and Violator looked awesome, but that was about it since the story was so... ugh. |

Spawn wasn't great, but at least it was a somewhat fun way to spend a evening... I don't know if I want to see Ghost Rider. It looks good, but then again so did Daredevil, and that was a letdown (The DC was so much better...). Besides, unlike Daredevil Ghost Rider isn't one of Marvel's top franchises. Daredevil is on the level of the comics like Spider-Man, X-men, Iron Man, and Captain America. Ghost Rider is around the comics like Spider Woman and all that. Not saying the comics arne't entertaining, but it seems studios try harder when they have the more important franchise. Ecept for Hulk. That sucked. |

I've tried watching Spawn, God knows I've tried but I've never made it all the way through. It's an awful film and it reminded me of Power Rangers in parts. I thought Constantine was good (apart from the anti-smoking ending which was just lame) and had the right sort of tone even though it was starring Keanu 'Whoa' Reeves. That was what I was hoping for this film. Constantine + Sin City + a bike from American Chopper = Will's perfect Ghost Rider. |

Why did everyone hate DD? It was great! I didn't like Hulk that much, but I like it more now though, now that I know the only good part is the action at the end. I just didn't like all the 'artsy' stuff, like the scene transitions and everything. Cool for something shorter, but a whole movie like that is a bit much. I didn't see Spawn, and I don't want to. Everyone says it sucks, why bother. Even my friend who is a huge Spawn fan says it sucks, so I'm not seeing it. I finished Secret War today, WOW! Its amazing, you need to read it. I like the new GR TV spot thats up now, go to comingsoon.net and to the GR page to watch it. "So, tonight you're gonna.... 'rrrha'" "Yes, I believe so." |

It's OK Wolf, I liked Daredevil. I didn't see the Hulk because I've never been a fan of the Hulk in any incarnation and I didn't hear anything favourable about it. |

I figured it was about time we had one of these. This way we can discuss the relative merits of many films without being accused of being off topic in other threads. Right now, however, I'm off to bed to watch Sin City. Goodnight. |

Hulk's one of those character's you have to admit as fun as he is at times he's also stupid, the movie did the shock thing of making him believable, but the sequel should be more fun, all out Hulk smash, I'm so there. As for Spawn, the animated series ruled, the film sucks pretty badly, but with so many comic movies lately with such similar origin stories I hope Ghost Rider is darker, so we get something different from a genre which is quickly getting samey. |

Sin City's awesome, wish the movie had the scene with Hartigan in court, but that's why the graphic novels are better, although the film still kicks obscene amounts of ass, maybe when I finish reading Spawn I'll read the Sin City books again, A Dame To Kill For, the origin of Dwight is the best. |

I still don't have the Sin City books; I was supposed to get them for Christmas but... someone dropped the ball. Anyway, I love the movie. I've only read The Hard Goodbye, since it came with the EE of the film. I like it, but the film is just as good. |

How to be a Superhero: 1. Parents need to be killed... sorry 2. Get superpowers somehow 3. Get angry and kill someone who could have been part of your parent's murder 4. Feel really bad about killing the person, but justify it angirly by saying they killed your parents 5. Somehow get a sweet costume and train up a bit 6. Operate in secrecy for a while, then suddenly a bad guy from the past comes into play and tries to kick your ass 7. They get into your 'real' life somehow, so you almost kill them, find out who they are, they still try to kill you, you kill them 8. Reveal your identity to somebody, and somehow make one of your allies hate your alter-ego 9. After that, supervillians come out of everywhere and nowhere, armed to the teeth, and again kidnap or kill your loved ones.... deal with it 10. Finally truly understand your powers and responsibility after defeating your greatest enemy 11. After that, you're pretty much done, no more cool villians come up and your life isn't anywhere near as engaging. Oh well. |

That's a good one, but if you read just one it has to be A Dame To Kill For, the film will make more sense because of it as well since it has how Dwight got his new face and his first run ins with Manute, the Michael Clarke Duncan character, such a good story, and book two so it's the next to read after Hard Goodbye.

That's basically it, nearly every comic adaptation starts with normal people getting powers, experimenting with them and getting into a situation which makes them use their powers for good, meanwhile another person who's a bit on the darker side gets powers too and uses them for evil, good and evil somehow meet and there it becomes a much more personal battle... with all the adaptations being made I can see me growing tired of the formula.
