Spars is a general term for the rounded wooded poles on a ship... like the masts, yards, booms, or gaffs...basically, the things that support the sails, and the things that support the things that support the sails. For instance, when Jack put the wheel over and knocked Will overboard with the boom, Will was - technically - hanging onto a 'spar' (in that case, it was the 'boom'). Some funny names folks, I love 'em!! (Esp. Easy Esther... ) das

I don't like using my real name online, so I guess I'm Pilferin' Pawzy Spitfire, the Roving Rumrunner (I used my anniversary day, since I didn't want to be a Wench or an Idiot ) I wish I could be a Godless Savage, but I have no significant date on the 11th day or month (unless I use hubby's b-day month, and that's stretching it :lol:). Being a Rumrunner is good.
