Jack Davenport - Commodore Norrington; Commodore love!

Okay, now I know there are some other people on here who said Norrington is their favorite character, so the question is, are we all Jack (Davenport) fans as well?

After I saw PotC I completely fell for Jack. I think with what he had for the part in PotC he just did one of the best jobs portraying the character. So naturally I had to see something else he was in. I've seen a couple 'something elses he was in' now, but out of all of them (that I've seen), I have to say that the BBC comedy Coupling is my favorite.

What about everyone else? What's your favorite non-PotC movie/show you've seen Jack in?

Yes, I absolutely love Jack Davenport in Coupling too! Coupling is really funny, I love it to bits. It had me rolling on the floor with laughter so many times... :D

Aye, I love Coupling as well. He's also incredibly adorable in Gypsy Woman (which reminds me I keep meaning to do some caps from that). I was given Ultrviolet for my birthday last week as well, but I've not got around to watching it yet.

Of course, we mustn't forget the MasterCard ads which he does the voice-overs for *swoon*

I think I must have seen various bits of This Life when it was originally on TV, but I honestly can't remember much...

Ohh, lucky! I've been begging for Ultraviolet for months now. And I need to see Gypsy Lady.

Jack does have a very, very swoon-worthy voice.

But on the Coupling end, I originally started watching it for Jack, and then, wow, Richard Coyle as Jeff. He was hilarious! So naturally when I heard that both of them would be in the Libertine, I and my friends were marking down the date on our calenders. Then for some of my other friends (ie actually everyone else) the fact that the movie had Jack Davenport, Richard Coyle, and Johnny Depp was way too much for them to resist.

Definately have Jack Davenport love!

Have only seen him in a few other things. We have Coupling showing here (or at least we did, it might have finished now I'm not sure) but I never watched it and when I do I'm very confused!

Loved him in 'The Wedding Date' and also 'The Incredible Journey of Mary Byrant' (the spelling of the last one is wrong... it might not even be 'incredible' lol)

Oooh, I want to see The Libertine, but it only showed for one weekend near me :( Silly film industry releasing it on the same day as Harry Potter 4!

I've also heard good things about Mary Bryant - one of my friends at LJ posted screencaps *wibbles*

It's so good to find fellow JackDav fans around here :D

Jack Davenport has a great voice. I just saw him in The Libertine. The one scene in particular between him and Johnny during the rehearsing of the play is hilarious.

I agree about Jack D. in POTC with Norrie's character. He made us like yet not like him. He wasn't a true "bad" guy...he was a good guy doing a bad job ;) , trying to rid the world of Jackage. :D And that should never happen. The vulnerability he showed in his rampart scene with Elizabeth at the beginning was well done, as was his depth of feeling when he quietly tells Will to bugger off  . Then there's Norrie in the deleted scenes...very revealing as well...gave Norrie more depth.

And Jack has one of my favorite blooper lines: "Ankles all the way."

He had the funniest blooper line! :D

The Mary Bryant one with Jack Davenport, does anyone know if that will ever be shown in the US? Or if it has, and I've missed it? Or if its on DVD?

*cries* I need to see it.

Oooh, I watched the first episode of Ultraviolet on Friday night, and boy does it need some screen caps doing (I have to wait for my husband to fix the other computer first though I think) - JackDav handcuffed, and JackDav with (surgical) tape over his eyes.

Mmm... those images brought up lots of naughty fic ideas

I mainly like Norrie because he is Jack Davenport. I can't say I care a great deal for the character (though Liz treated him rotten, so he gets my sympathy there).
The only other thing I've seen (or heard) JackDav in is "Coupling", which is hilarious.

The first time I watched "Coupling", I didn't love it... Not sure I was confused, but I do think you need to know the characters/setup before getting into it. At least, I did, apparently.

It came out here last Thursday, but it's only showing once this week, in a cinema on the other side of the country. I'm hoping some other cinemas will show it next week - this is ridiculous!

It quite is. They've been having such troubles with the film, I think it might have been finding people to distribute it before-- at least within the US, since it was delayed practically twice for normal release here.

Maybe it is considered to risky of a film? Not enough profit to be made? Which seems kind of silly considering Johnny Depp is in it. And Jack Davenport, not like he's as big of a star, but oh, so smolderingly . . . yeah. Okay, I'll stop now, while I'm still sorta seeming normal.

I still have to see The Libertine, so I can't comment on his role in that. I love Coupling, though! I only wish I had the BBC America channel, because I'd watch it all the time if I could... Luckily, I got to watch it when I was coming back from California (it pays to fly JetBlue!) They had the BBC America channel - lo and behold, Coupling was on and I was so excited. I love his character Steve...he's just funny. The first time I ever saw the show, I couldn't believe it was the same guy who played Norrington!

Oh, and I love his voice too. Then again, I'm a sucker for accents (especially British!)

Of course! Maybe there will be some room in the sequel for Jack as Norrington to pull off one or more comedic moments-- he certainly had some humorous stuff to do in the film, the "Elizabeth? Elizabeth? Elizabeth!" was well done, but oh, he can do comedy.

So BBC America is showing Coupling again? Maybe it is worth it to see the channel again. I used to watch it just to see Coupling, but then they stopped showing Coupling so that they could show more episodes of The Office, which, is a funny show, but I really wanted to see Coupling. Thank goodness though for PBS, and the DVDs.
